This tiny puzzle mixes two simple number properties to get a nice interaction between them. Consider a collection of numbers to be "balanced" if it has the same number of odds as evens. This puzzle uses clues based around the maximum of a group of numbers together with whether that group is balanced.

It is surprising that you can create a solvable puzzle with that little information. I'll give it a go.

Is any negative information inferred for the corners without clues?

Not this time, even though I'm usually known for that! The if and only if only applies to the borders. So when a clue appears you know for sure whether it is balanced or not balanced, but no clue means no info.
